Emergencies come in many shapes and sizes, including leaking radiators, blocked pipes, leaking pipes, damaged central heating pumps, block toilets & blocked drains. Depending on your emergency we will dispatch the correct team. If your emergency is gas related, for example, you have a gas leak, rest assured we are Gas Safe Registered - you can view our registration on the official gas safe register website. Our heating engineers will be able to present their Gas Safe identification card. It will document their name and our company name, James Foy Plumbing, on the card. The worst emergencies are mains pressure leaks, following by loss of heating services and hot water.

If you have a plumbing emergency, we suggest you locate your water mains and attempt to turn it off to stop any further damage which may have occurred. Speak to a member of staff today who will try to help you locate your mains over the phone before a plumber arrives. You will often find the stopcock under the sink. However, we have seen stopcocks in locations you would never believe. Generally, if you cannot locate your stopcock, you should have an outside stopcock usually on the boundary of the property (small square grid). Often, they can be tricky to find and can notoriously be covered in soil, debris and other matter - that's if you can reach it! Once located, you will need to turn it clockwise to close the valve.

What emergencies do you cover?

We cover all plumbing emergencies. It often depends on what you 'consider' as an emergency. Generally, we would document an emergency as being a severe leak. We wouldn't classify an emergency as a slightly dripping tap. If your property is at severe risk of flooding or water damage, it would be an emergency. How quick can you attend?

Often within the hour - it depends on our current workload, but most emergencies can be attended within the hour. Most plumbing problems can be rectified with the hour, or at least made safe.

What is the average cost of an emergency?

It honestly depends. If we attend and perform a repair with few to no materials, we would charge £69.00-£100.00 which is inclusive of VAT. Of course, we've got to replace taps or a toilet component we would charge the cost of the materials too. We will always be open and honest regarding pricing. Call us to discuss your situation - we will be happy to give you advice. All companies will charge a call-out fee for plumbing emergencies. This will generally be charged for the first hour.

Are you able to empty a flooded property, such as a basement?

Yes - we can pump water from a property to a drainage area. Our drain jetting machine can be converted to pump water.

Do you only make safe the plumbing emergency?

It will vastly depend on the situation. If for example, a pipe is leaking we will obviously stop the leak and make a repair. At times, the 'complete' repair would need to be practically done in normal working hours, especially if the emergency happens within the early hours. Each emergency will be handled on a case by case situation. Ultimately, making safe and protecting the property is paramount.

I have insurance cover - but they cannot attend. Can you claim your costs from them directly?

No. We would require payment for our visit. We will be able to supply you with documentation, receipts and a report if necessary, to document we have attended and you have paid us. You may be able to then recuperate your costs from your insurance.

Are emergency call-outs included in the monthly plan?

Absolutely - our monthly cover plans included emergency call-outs for leaks, burst pipes etc.
